Kenyans may soon receive free emergency medical care for the first 24 hours under the Social Health Authority’s (SHA) Emergency, Chronic and Critical Illness Fund.
The report revealed that the project is currently at the feasibility study stage, with an estimated construction cost of Ksh130 billion ($1 billion).Once completed, the road will form part of the broader Trans-African Highway network, which connects the Kenyan coast to landlocked Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The meeting, held in a focused and strategic setting, brought together key stakeholders within the Ministry of Health to deliberate on pressing issues affecting the country’s healthcare system. Among the topics discussed were strengthening healthcare infrastructure, enhancing service delivery, and accelerating the implementation of ongoing health programs.Speaking during the session, CS Duale emphasized the importance of collaboration, accountability, and innovation in transforming Kenya’s health sector. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all citizens.
