Rising Malawian hip-hop artist Kennedy Kadewere, popularly known by his stage name Papikid, is set to release a new single titled ‘When I’m Down’ tomorrow.
Speaking in an interview with Sele Media Malawi, Papikid described the track as a deeply motivational song that encourages listeners to remain hopeful even in difficult times.
He said:“The message behind ‘When I’m Down’ is simple, no matter how low you fall, you can always rise again.Tomorrow always comes, and there’s always another chance.”
The artist revealed that the inspiration for the song came from personal experiences, particularly the loss of close friends who gave up on life.
“I have lost a lot of friends who felt their lives could never improve. They lost hope and took their own lives, fearing what tomorrow might bring. This song is a reminder that no matter what you go through, there is always hope,” said Papikid.
He said the song was produced by CuffB under Big Vision Entertainment and will be available on all major music platforms, including Spotify, YouTube, iTunes, Boomplay, TikTok, and Facebook.
Papikid, who began his music journey in 2018, said he has so far released five songs.
He said he believes the Malawian music industry is heading in the right direction, with more artists starting to support and uplift each other.
“The industry is getting better and better. Many of us have begun to work together and show unity. Of course, a few still don’t share that spirit, but overall, we are rising,” he said.
He further urged Malawians to start embracing meaningful music that inspires positive change.
“We need to support songs with real messages not just songs for dancing. Music should heal, inspire, and give people hope. We only have ourselves, and our songs should reflect that,” he concluded.
